Mike has had 16 years commercial law experience. He was a partner in a large commercial law firm in Auckland before broadening his expertise in London with international law firm Denton Wilde Sapte. Mike remains on the Roll of Barristers and Solicitors in England and Wales.
Whilst Mike is experienced in most commercial legal areas, his principle areas of expertise are in banking and finance, commercial property, insolvency and mergers & acquisitions. Mike has acted on a number of large corporate transactions both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He recently completed a cross border acquisition for a UK company which listed on AIM on the London Stock Exchange (see www.kurawood.com).
Other corporate experience includes private equity, IPOs, shareholder agreements and joint ventures. Mike represents a number of financial organisations, advising on asset finance, structured finance and debt recovery. Mike is also a member of Insol New Zealand and he regularly advises on debt restructuring, mortgagee sales, receiverships, turnaround management and workouts. Mike also acts for a number of property developers and investors with respect to subdivisions, building contracts and leasing.

Patrick is an experienced commercial and intellectual property law expert and was previously a partner in a major national law firm, Kensington Swan, for over 16 years.
Patrick has a broad and in depth range of legal skills with particular expertise and experience in distribution and network arrangements, franchising, e-commerce, advertising and marketing and all commercial legal issues arising in these areas. His experience and expertise include advising:
- Franchisors for retail and distribution, franchise dispute resolution and FANZ code compliance.
- Shareholder agreements, corporate structures, asset and share acquisitions and sales, terms
of trade and trading agreements.
- Intellectual property development, protection and promotion of brands, copyright, protection
of knowledge and confidential information, licensing.
- E-commerce including software development, website development, hosting and on-line trading.
- Consumer/Commercial business law including Fair Trading Act, Commerce Act,
Consumer Credit Contracts and Finance Act, Privacy Act, Consumer Guarantees Act.
- Advertising reviews and compliance, product promotions and competitions.
Patrick represents a range of national and multi-national clients, he is a member of IPSANZ and FANZ and regularly presents seminars on legal matters.

Peter is a consultant of the firm. He has over 30 years experience in commercial law having started his career as a law clerk at Russell McVeagh and later becoming a partner at Johnston Pritchard Fee and Partners. He studied both in New Zealand and at New York University where he completed a Master of Laws. More recently Peter completed his second masters degree in Commercial Law in 2007 at Auckland University.
Peter was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York in 1991 before returning to establish the firm in 1991. He specialises in property, commercial law, trusts and family law. He also represents a number of clients in the entertainment and hospitality industries. PeterÕs interests include rugby league, with him having been a board member of Auckland Rugby League for many years and having been Chairman of the Auckland Warriors.

Sue practices primarily in both residential and commercial property and has considerable experience in subdivisions and property development. She also advises on trusts, asset planning, estates and property relationship issues. Sue has over 30 years experience having practiced for many years as a legal executive before completing her law degree in 2000.

Paul focuses on commercial law, including commercial contracts, commercial leasing, corporate compliance, mergers and acquisitions, trusts, and relationship property issues.
Paul completed his commerce and law degrees from the University of Auckland in 2006 before completing a year of corporate taxation at a large chartered accountancy firm. He joined Macky Roberton in 2008.

Tania initially joined Macky Roberton in 1994 before heading overseas for her O.E. in June 1997. She returned to Macky Roberton in December 1998 and completed her Legal Executive Certificate at AUT during 2000 and 2001. Tania is now an Associate member of the The New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives Inc and has developed expertise in residential conveyancing, trusts, wills and estates. Tania is also familiar with commercial leasing and is fully trained and operational in all aspects of e-dealing.

Prior to joining Macky Roberton, Margaret-Mary worked for a law firm specialising in providing advice to Banks and other financial institutions in lending and debt recovery. Margaret-Mary is also experienced in residential and commercial conveyancing.
